P. Taylor and the relatives at home prepared a big dinner and took it to enjoy with her at her home on South Grove street. Mrs. M. C. Cluster was the main guilty per- petrator and chief cook, but was ably assisted by Mrs. John Holmquest. Mrs. Taylor's son Bert had sent her a birthday greeting card so she was not expecting him, yet at 12 o'clock he drove in and got his feet under the table and stayed there the better part of an hour and a half, with the rest of the folks eating and talking over old times and old days. Bert brought his mother a wonderful box of Chrysanthemums and American Beauty roses, and Mrs. Nick Trok, of Manila, Iowa, sent a fine birthday cake with the words, "Mother's Birthday, 85" on the cake. The Yates Center News Friday Jan 30, 1920 pg 6 Some Early History Some folks who are familiar with the early history of Yates Center have figured it out that Mrs. W. P. Taylor is now the oldest citizen of Yates Center on the townsite, in point of actual residence, and that John Walter Depew hold a similar position among men residents. The writer is not sure of this but from our view point retrospectively we are inclined to think it about right. 1920 Center, Woodson KS Matilda Taylor 80 Germany widow head 1915 Kansas State Census, Yates Center, Woodson, KS Matilda Taylor 74 Germany Gertrude Taylor 30 KS 1915 Kansas State Census Yates Center, Woodson, KS Mick Trock 32 Germany Gertrude Trock 31 KS 1910 Yates Center, Woodson, ks William P Taylor 71 OH PA OH real estate agent Matilda Taylor 68 Germany Germany Germany 1905 Kansas State Census, Yates Center, Woodson, KS 156- J.
