W. H. Peterson, Proprietor. Large, Well Lighted, Sample and Guest Rooms, Cuisine the Best and Polite Attention Makes the Hotel Peterson Popular With the Transient Public. Few towns in Kansas can boast of a better hotel than the Peterson at Toronto, the management of which from observation, travel and experience, is thoroughly conversant with the requirements of hotel guests, and has met them in every particular. The building is a two story and mansard with twenty two rooms, all fitted up with new and modern furniture, carpets, linen, etc. The table is supplied with edibles prepared and served in the most tempting manner, and this, together with sleeping rooms and parlors which are ideals of comfort and neatness combine to make the hotel a delightful stopping place. At the side is a miniature park, with shade trees, hammocks, etc., which adds to the attractiveness of the surroundings. W. H. Peterson, the proprietor was born in Indiana but reared in southeastern Iowa. He is a veteran of the civil war, having served two years in the 3rd Iowa Cavalry. After the war he moved to Pawnee City, Nebraska, where he lived until 1880. In that year he went to South Dakota and until 1894 was engaged in the mercantile business in that state. For four years following he was in the real estate business in southeastern Missouri. He came to Toronto in December, 1898, and opened the Hotel Peterson on March 15th of this year. He remodeled the building and refurnished it from basement to garret, sparing no expense in the undertaking. He is ably assisted by his estimiable wife and two daughters under whose supervision the house and table are always homelike and models of neatness.
