Eight weeks ago he suffered an attack and was doing well but was struck by another attack while visiting at the home of a neighbor. He was born in Weston, October 14, 1918, as the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Bert Stephens. He was a 1936 graduate of Weston High School. Stephens had lived in Kansas City, Kansas for 20 years and was a 25 year employee of the Collins Construction Company as an estimator. He was a member of the Grandview Methodist Church and had served as treasurer of Boy Scout Troop 45 and was an assistant baseball coach for Wyandotte County teams. He was an Army veteran of WWII. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Gwen Stephens and a son, Michael K. Stephens of the home at 2623 N. 84th, Kansas City, Kansas; a step-son, David Bramble, Cincinnati, Ohio; two sisters, Mrs. Emma Steele, Weston and Mrs. Doris Means, Springfield, Mo.; four brothers, Bill and Finley Stephens, both of Weston; James Stephens, North Kansas City and Vernon Stephens, Montrose, Colorado. Services were Wednesday in Kansas City, Kansas, with burial in the National Cemetery at Fort Leavenworth.
