BAKER Dies In Monticello. W. Lisle BAKER, 84, died suddenly at his home in Monticello KY on Thursday 25-Feb. Born and reared in Columbia, he was a member of one of the most prominent families of the county. He was a son of the late Judge H.C. Baker and Mrs. Dollie Lisle Baker. For 58 years the deceased was associated with the Monticello Banking Company and at the time of his death had been its president for almost 50 years. He served without interruption on the Monticello School Board for 45 years. In 1948 the Kentucky School Boards Association presented Mr. Baker with a plaque in recognition of his "long record of unselfish and sacrificial service to the children and youth of Kentucky." Services were held at the Monticello Methodist Church on Saturday at two O'Clock. Interment was in the Monticello Cemetery. Survivors include Lisle BAKER, Jr., vice-president and general manager of The Courier-Journal and The Louisville Times Company; his widow, Mrs. Zona RAMSEY BAKER, and three daughters, Mrs. Hubert MATHENY, Lexington KY, Mrs. Roscoe R. DALTON, Louisville, and Mrs. Carl RANKIN, Monticello; a brother, H.T. BAKER, and a sister, Mrs. W.D. JONES, both of Columbia. Among those who attended the funeral were Mrs. W.D. JONES, Mr. and Mrs. Hershel BAKER, Jimmy and Walter BAKER, Mr. and Mrs. Hershel B. JONES, Mr. John FLOWERS, Mr. Sam SUDDARTH and Mr. and Mrs. Ernest FLOWERS.
