J. Mack FRAZER Dies On Monday. Brief Illness Proves Fatal To Prominent Columbia Citizen. Funeral Services Today. Mr. J. Mack FRAZER, 71 years old, well-known local citizen, died at 9:45 O'Clock Monday night of heart trouble, after having been ill for two weeks. News of his death came as a great shock to a wide circle of friends in Columbia and elsewhere. Mr. FRAZER was born and reared in Columbia and belonged to one of the most prominent families of the city. He was a son of the late Thomas and Flora McCORKLE FRAZER. He was educated in the local schools and attended the old M & F College in his youth. He married Miss Eva ALLEN, daughter of the late Dr. DeWitt Clinton ALLEN and Mrs. ALLEN on 25-Jan-1894. The ALLEN family, which was also one of prominence in this section, were residents of Cumberland County. Mrs. FRAZER died in 1933. A daughter, Flora FRAZER, died in infancy and the oldest daughter, Miss Laura McCORKLE FRAZER, died here in 1932. Mr. and Mrs. FRAZER and family lived in Columbia, Springfield IL, Oakdale TN, Somerset and Danville, at various times. He was connected with the Southern Railroad System for thirty-five years and retired from his duties as an engineer in 1937 returning to Columbia to make his home. He was a member of the Christian Church and a splendid gentleman of outstanding character, admired by family, friends and co-workers. He was an active sportsman and had served as president of the Adair County Fish and Game Protective Association for the past year. He is survived by two daughters, Miss Eva FRAZER of Columbia and Mrs. Huston PRICE of Bliss; four sisters, Mrs. W.B. PATTERSON of Columbia; Mrs. J.F. CABBELL of Green County; Mrs. J.B. McCAIN of Shreveport LA, and Mrs. M.H. SANDLIN of Minden LA; and four brothers, J.T. FRAZER of Dallas TX, T.H. FRAZER of St. Michaels AZ, R.G. FRAZER of Windsor MO, and L.B. FRAZER of San Carlos AZ. Funeral services will be held at the residence at 2:30 O'Clock this afternoon, conducted by Reverend R.E. REEVES. Interment will be in the City Cemetery. The active pallbearers will be Messrs. Stewart HUTCHISON, Carl FLOWERS, Edwin CRAVENS, Herbert HOWELL, Frank BROWNING, W. H. HUDSON, and Dr. H.C. RANDALL. Honorary: Judge Rollin HURT, E.J. BENNETT, George A. ATKINS, C.R. HUTCHISON, W.H. FLOWERS, F.B. RICHARDSON, A.W. PAXTON and S.F. COFFEY.
