Mrs. Emily Elizabeth PRICE dies at Adair Memorial. Mrs. Emily Elizabeth PRICE
passed away Tuesday, 03-Mar-1970, at 5:00 p.m. at the Adair Memorial Hospital,
Columbia. She had been admitted to the hospital the day before and seemed to
be feeling somewhat better. She was married to the late G. Huston PRICE of
Adair County on 18-Mar-1934. He preceded her in death on 03-Feb-1964. Their
child, Guy Huston PRICE, died on 06-May-1935, at birth. Mrs. PRICE, who was
better known as Betty to a host of relatives and friends, was the daughter of
the late John McCORKLE and Eva Allen FRAZIER, long time residents of Columbia
and members of the prominent FRAZIER family of Columbia and ALLEN family of
Cumberland County. She was born 22-July-1910 at Oakdale TN, where her father
was stationed as an employee of the Southern Railroad. The FRAZIER family
returned to Columbia to make their home in 1922. After graduation from
Lindsey Wilson College, she taught in the school system of Adair County until
her health forced her retirement in 1965. A faithful member of the Columbia
Christian Church since childhood, she also held membership in both the
National and Kentucky Retired Teachers Associations. She was an active member
of the Adair County Historical Society and of the Democratic Party. She is
survived by one sister, Mrs. Eva CHISM of Columbia, and one niece, Miss Libby
CHISM, also of Columbia. Funeral services were held Thursday, March 5, at
2:00 p.m., at the Stotts & Phelps Funeral Home, in Columbia, with interment
in the Columbia City Cemetery. Dr. John B. HORTON, President of Lindsey Wilson
College, and the Reverend Raymond MARTIN, pastor of the Columbia Christian
Church, were the officiating clergy. Pallbearers were Messrs. Maurice CHEATHAM,
Leonard CHEATHAM, Joe CHEATHAM, J. Stant COX, Paul CALLISON, and Willard
STAPLES.
