N. B. Fee Paid D. D. Fee Paid Know all men that Thomas Spillman of the county of Allen State of Kentucky for and in consideration of one thousand dollars to him paid by Elliot N. B. Clark of the county and state aforesaid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged doth hereby grant bargain sell and convey to the said Elliot N. B. Clark his heirs and assigns forever the following tract or parcel of land situated lying and being in the county and state aforesaid on the waters of Walnut & Difficult Creeks & bounded as follows to wit: Beginning at the Chestnut and two Black Gums thence N 30 W 179 poles to a white oak and two black gums, thence S 60 W 179 poles to a white oak and dogwood Thence S 30 E 179 poles to a Stake Thence N 60 E 179 poles to the beginning containing by survey two hundred acres be the same more or less together with all the buildings? and appurtenances to the same belonging to have and hold the same to the said Elliot N. B. Clark his heirs and assigns forever The Grantor covenanting with the Grantee his heirs and assigns that the title so conveyed is clear and unencumbered and that he will warranty and forever defend the same against all claims whatever. In witness whereof the said Thomas Spillman and Frances G. Spillman his wife hath hereunto set his hand seals this twenty third day of August in the eighteen hundred and fifty three. I Samuel Swearingen clerk of the county court of said county do certify that this deed from Thomas Spillman and Frances G. Spillman his wife to E. N. B. Clark was this day produced to one in my office by the Grantors and claimed(??) By the said Thomas Spillman to be his act and deed and the said Frances G. Spillman being examined by me privily and apart from her husband declared that she did willingly seal and deliver the said writing and wishes not to retract it and acknowledged the said writing again shown and explained to her to be her act and deed and she consented that the same may be recorded.
