Richard HARRISON of Allen Co, Private in the company of Captain SMITH, regiment of Col McDOWELL in NC line for 6 months. Inscribed on KY Roll at $20 per year to begin 4 March 1831. Certificate of pension issued 24 Sept 1833. Kentucky 8362. Rachel HARRISON, widow of Richard HARRISON, inscribed on KY Roll at $20 per year to begin 6 May 1838. Certificate of Pension Issued 2 May 1844. Allen Co KY, 10 June 1833. Richard HARRISON, aged 69 states that his first tour of duty was as a substitute for Isaac ROBERTSON and he served under Capt. George SMITH in Lincoln Co NC. In 1781, when he was 16 or 17 years old, he served another term for ROBERTSON as an Indian Spy in the Mounted Cavalry under Capt. Joseph McDONNELL. The next tour he volunteered and served under Samuel KILLIAM as a spy. He stated that he was raised an orphan without education. He cited William TRAVELSTEAD, William MAYHUE, Mical CLINE, John CLINE, Jonathan BANKS and John TRAVELSTREET as neighborhood witnesses. Edmund WAGONER, clergyman, and Joseph ANTHONY testified to his age and character for veracity. On 20 March 1840 Mrs Rachel HARRISON, aged 75, deposed that she was the widow of Richard HARRISON and that they were married 14 Feb 1786; he died 6 May 1838. On 25 Mar 1840 William TRAVELSTEAD testified that he was well acquainted with Richard and Rachel in Lincoln Co NC; they were married sometime in 1786, he thinks in Feb. He has known them ever since; that he left for KY about 10- 12 yrs before the HARRISON's moved and that they were neighbors in KY before the applicant died. Thomas COLLBERT, W T ANTHONY, Thomas KENNEDY, Allen D BERRY, Michael CLINE and Wm ALSHUE testified on the same date and they had long acquaintenance with Richard and Rachel. On 18 Jan 1844 Rachel HARRISON, age 80, deposed before Andrew HARRISON, JP that she was married to Richard as stated above but no record of the marriage exists. She submitted an old Psalm Book in which was recorded the birth of their children and that she thinks it originally had record of their marriage. On 18 Jan 1844 Michael CLINE deposed that he was about 14 years when his father, Martin CLINE, moved from PA to NC and settled in the immediate neighborhood of Richard and Rachel; they were living together as man and wife and had two or three children. Franklin Co TN on 19 Sept 1832 Thomas HARRISON deposed that Richard had served in the Rev. War. Family Record submitted "from a very old leaf from David's Psalms": Rachel DORSEY? was born Aug 29, 1764 (this name may be Dansey, Lansey, Donsey or Lonsey - difficult to read). Benjamin HARRISON was born March 9, 1794 Patience HARRISON was born Aug 6, 1796. Thomas HARRISON was born Oct 29, 1798. Mary HARRISON was born Dec 14, 1800. Richard HARRISON was born April 10, 1803.
