All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/ky/kyfiles.html ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Janet King JPerdue192@aol.com February 12, 2009, 3:51 pm Bounty Land Application State of Kentucky County of Allen On this 4th of February 1851. personally appeared before me, a justice of the peace within and for the County and State aforesaid Jesse Perdue aged 58 years, a resident of the County of Allen in the State of Kentucky, who being duly Sworn according to law, declares, that he is the identical Jesse Perdue, who was a fifer in the Company commanded by Captain William Pepper in the 4th Regiment of Virginia volunteers commanded by Col Kountz in the war with Great Britain declared by the United States on the 18th day of June, 1812, that he volunteered at Joshua Starkies in Franklin County in the State of Virginia on or about the 12 day of September A. D. 1813 for the term of six months, and continued in actual service in said war for the term of Six months and was honorably discharged at Norfolk in the State of Virginia on or about the 12th day of March 1814, as will appear by his original certificate of discharge here with presented but which he States has been by some accident Mutilated and as will appear by the Muster rolls of Said company. He makes this declaration for the purpose of obtaining the bounty land to which he may be entitled under the act "granting bounty land to certain officiers and Soldiers who have been engaged in the Military Service of the United States," passed September 28th 1850. Jesse Perdue Sworn to and Subscribed before me the day and year above written, And I herby certify that I believe the said Jesse Perdue to be the identical man who served as aforesaid and that he is of the age aboved Stated. Lemuel Sumaingen, clerk, Allen County Court, Ky Additional Comments: Jesse Perdue born 1793 in Franklin Co., VA to Daniel and Kerenhappuch Ward Perdue. He married to Lydia Blankenship in Franklin Co., VA about 1816. They were living on 200 acres along Lick Creek in Allen Co., KY by 1817. Jesse and Lydia had nine children. They continued to live in Allen Co., KY until after 1870 when they moved to Macon Co., TN where both died.
