School: CLIFTON ----------------------------------- Submitted for Archives by: Sandi Gorin November 01, 2000 8:00 AM ---------------------------------- CLIFTON SCHOOL 2 sites for this church - the first a log cabin and in the hollow below the Clifton General Baptist Church abt 100 yards from the spring. The church had organied in 1878. Abt 1897-1898 a frame structure was erected by S L HERMAN. Due to the discovery of oil here and the strong smell, was moved to the top ofthe hill not far from the chruch. School closed in 1948 and all the pupils transferred to Meador.
