ALLEN CO KY SCHOOLS Submitted by Sandi Gorin 21 Feb 2001 HIGHLAND SCHOOL Opened in the late 1870's or 1880 on land donated by Jim Ike MOORE. Revivals for the Mt Union Association of General Baptists show revivals being held here in 1895 and 1896. Early trustees were: P H BUTRUM, W J LAW, S A CROWDER, Henry FARLEY and Sam LAW. Teachers included Bessie CROWDER, Dr J W WHITE, Laura HAGAN, Hattie CROWDER, Lola CROWDER HOLDER, Ezma? MORGAN, Ella Stone STEWART, Gracie JONES, Willie DOWNING, J E HARSTON, N S SHAW, Nellie DEAN BARTON, Virgie LOYD, Nell COOK, Olen LAW and Chloe CROWDER. Highland School close in 1945 with students transferred to Raleigh and Mt. Zion.
