Locust Grove began in 1887 when a deed was recorded between J F PITCHFORD and M D TRACY and L R MEADOR, J H BROWN and Taylor LYLES - trustees. It was located south of Hwy 100 east not too far from Dry Creek. Other trustees over the years included R A McDANIELS, G W WOLFE, J W SIMMONS, Charley LYLES, W R TRACY, R LONG, T D MEADOR, E B MAYHEW, W D SIMMONS, John HAYNES, B K VINSON, C T MAYHEW & A F BROWN. Teachers in the 1890's included A F BROWN, Miss Effie HINTON and Ethel EATON. The school closed in 1941 and students then attended Pleasant Field School.
