ALLEN COUNTY, KY SCHOOLS ROUGH HILL, RED HILL, SHAW Submitted by Sandi Gorin 25 Apr 2001 Rough Hill, Red Hill and Shaw schools were consolidated in March of 1946 and a new school established near ROARK's Store in southeast Allen Co. This was not farm from the TN line and the Monroe Co KY line. Chester ROARK donated the land for Midway School and the school operated until 1955-56 class. From then on the students were transported to Mt. Zion Elementary School. Teachers during this time included Duel CLAIBORNE, Andy DEVINE, Boyd MANION, Susan LEWIS GOAD, Mrs Othie LOYD and C A DOSS. The class of 1946 included the following students with Chester DOSS as teacher: Joe WIllis PHILLIPS, Junior BROOKS, Elmer ROARK, Joe L STONE, G W FARLEY, Odell PHILLIPS, William MEADORS, Wanda Sue STINSON, Lorella STINSON, Joyce DRIVER, Joe Nell YOKLEY, Genell MANION, Sue ROARK, Shelby Jean CARTER, Willie Gene STINSON, James DRIVER, Melvin MEADORS, Odell PHILLIPS (listed twice?), Buell PHILLIPS, Jerry STINSON, Joyce STINSON, Viola MEADORS, Kathryn ROARK, Rose Julia STONE, Donald ROARK, Joe Tom STINSON, James ROARK, Wayne DOSS, Hillous CARTER, Jim Robert CLAIBORNE, Eudine DOSS, Betty STINSON, Margie DRIVER, Mary Grace STINSON, Moreece DRIVER, Bobby HATLER, Benson PHILLIPS, Noble STINSON, Elvis MEADORS, Billy Wayne STINSON, Rose ROARK, Louise MAHANEY, Margie STINSON, Billy ROARK, WIlma MAHANEY, Virginia STINSON.
