Leech. James Samuel BAILEY - 28 Feb 1864-1940 "The many Barren county friends of Mr. J. S. Bailey were shocked and grieved Monday when it as announced that he had died of a heart attack at his home in the Etoile section. He was 76 years of age. "Mr. Bailey was found dead in the barn on his farm Monday morning around 6 o'clock by his daughter-in-law, Mrs. Howard Bailey, who went to the barn shortly after Mr. Bailey left the house to feed his stock. Mr. Bailey arose early Monday morning and was apparently feeling well. "Mr. Bailey had resided in Barren county all his life and was born Feb. 28, 1864, in the Etoile section. He was a member of the Baptist Church and one of the outstanding citizens of the Etoile community. He was preceded to the grave by his wife, Mrs. Eliza Nunn Bailey, 25 years ago. "He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Paul Biggers, Glasgow; Mrs. Bryant Elliot, Etoile; Miss Bell Lewis Bailey, at home; two sons, Messrs William Bailey, Glasgow, R. 2, and Howard Bailey, of Etoile; three sisters, Mrs. W. G. Nunn, Glasgow, R. 2; Mrs. J. C. Elliott, Temple Hill And Mrs. J. D. Bertram, Dry Fork. Eight grandchildren also survive. "Funeral services were held Tuesday, 2 p.m. at the Caney Fork Church, the Rev. C. E. Carter, of Tompkinsville, in charge. Burial was in the church cemetery." Undated Glasgow KY newspaper.
