After an illness extended over a long period, Mr. John Christmas passed away at his home here, Sunday afternoon last. Pulmonary troubles caused his death, although at the time of his decease he had passed Scriptual allotment of life, being in his seventy-third year. Mr. Christmas was well-known all over this section and is but scant praise to say that few men were ever more popular or more thoroughly deserved that popularity. He was a scrupulously honest man, and upright, lovable gentleman, and a manly, honorable character in every walk of life. His death, while not unexpected, brought sorrow to the hearts of hundreds of friends all over this section. "The remains were interred in the Odd Fellows cemetery, here, after a funeral service at the home of the deceased, Monday evening last at 2 o'clock, in the pesence of a large concourse of sorrowing friends and relatives."
