"James W. Cassady, 70 years of age, was found dead late yesterday afternoon on the farm of Lawrence England, three miles north of Edmonton, where he had been visiting for the past few days. Mr. Cassady made his home on Broadway in Glasgow and until a few months ago was employed by Lessenberry and Jones here. "Mr. Cassady borrowed a shot gun yesterday morning, and said that he was going hunting. He disappeared and when he failed to return for lunch the family began to make inquiries in the neighborhood. They thought that probably he had decided to come to Glasgow and called his home here. They were unable to any any information about him. Further along in the afternoon, Mr. England gathered a number of men together and started a search. Late in the afternoon one of the searchers noticed a coat hanging from a bush in the woods a short distance from the road. A handkerchief was tied near the coat and was waving in the breeze. "They went to see what it meant and near the coat they found Mr. Cassady's body lying on the ground. He had evidently been dead some hours. In the coat notes to friends and relatives were found giving instructions about the disposal of his property, and thanking his friends for their past favors to him. "He is survived by his wife, who lives in Glasgow, one son, Grover Cassady of Indianapolis, one daughter, Mrs. Frank England, of Edmonton, five brothers, Chess Cassady of Barren County, and Emmett, Travis, P. G., and London Cassady, all of Metcalfe County; and two sisters, Mrs. Henry McFarland and Mrs. Charles Martin, both of Metcalfe County. He was an uncle of Deputy Sheriff Jesse Cassady. "Funeral services and burial are to take place at Foundation near Edmonton, tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 o'clock."
