Martha Wells Dougherty April 9 1922 Barren County KyArchives Obituaries Unknown Glasgow, KY Newspaper "THE DEATH OF MRS. MARTHA DOUGHERTY, LAST MONDAY. Mrs. Martha A. Dougherty died at her home here Monday morning at six thirty o'clock. She had been ill several months, and death was due to a stroke of apoplexy. She was in her eightieth year. "Surviving are the following daughters and sons: Mrs. Lewis Peden and Mrs. C. Y. Depp, of Metcalfe county; Mrs. T. H. Smith, of Lafayette, Ind.; Mrs. J. L. Piercy, of Campbellsville; Messrs. Will, Mark and Ewell Dougherty, of Glasgow. She is also survived by two brothers, Messrs. J. C. and L. L. Wells, of Cave City. "Funeral services were at the residence yesterday afternoon at three o'clock, conducted by Rev. Brinson of the Methodist church, of which she was a devoted member.. "Burial was in the Glasgow cemetery immediately thereafter. "Mrs. Dougherty was a fine type of christian lady, loved and esteemed by all who knew her; a loving and kind mother, and her death caused universal sadness."
