Vera Bailey Everett unknown Barren County KyArchives Obituaries Unknown Glasgow KY newspaper "MRS. VERA BAILEY EVERETT, wife of Edgar Everett, of near Cave City, Ky., came, Saturday, August 8th, in joy to visit her father's famly, and to show to them the tiny six-weeks old babe which she held close to her bosom. This precious new babe, with such sweet blue eyes was so young and tender that possibly its safety was then the mother's thought. Today - it is well and growing - but the mother, where is she? She who was always thoughtful and careful of others, she who had cared for her younger sister and two brothers as tenderly as she could after her mother's death, she who was thoughtful of father and children, for she had two sweet little girls, she who made her home hapy by being a faithful, dutiful wife is gone. "She arrived at her father's home about dusk, feeling well, ate a hearty supper and rested until about two o'clock. At this time the family was aroused on account of her intense suffering. All day Sunday her pain was horrible and Monday, with a pulse playing around 140 she fought to do just what Dr. Jones asked her to do. Tuesday and Wednesday with conditions changed but little she kept up the fight. Thursday wore wearily on until 5 p.m. when God in his love and mercy saw fit to relieve the suffering body by separating it from the soul. How still! How changed! How calm she looked! Even the little twenty-months old daughter, Mildred Imogene, looked at her and said, "Mover" in that sweet baby fashion and made no effort to go to her. That part of mother that said "come," was gone, and it seemed that even the tiny tot realized it. At the same time, Susan Bailey, six-weeks old, as learning to console herself with a bottle. Poor little darlings, they will never know a tender mother's care, but they are fortunate in having a father, grand-mother, grand-father, uncles and aunts who will do all they can for them. May friends and neighbors remember this, and be thoughtful not only while they are babies, but when they grow up - any harsh words about them will pain those who have cared for them. "Vera Bailey Everett, the oldest child of Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Bailey was born June 27th, 1892. She as married to Edgar Everett, February 14, 1923. To this union two precious little girls were born, Mildred Imogene and Susan Bailey. Her husband, and two children, her father, W. T. Bailey, and one brother, Elgin Bailey survive her. Her mother and three brothers, Edwin, Earl and Ewell preceded her to the grave. "For five years she was my pupil, always willing to do her part, ever obedient. She was one of the nine who came to my home the only spring I ever thought I would rest from school work, and asked for instruction. In my mind I can see them now in that upstairs room by a cozy fire working at assignments, and reciting their lessons. How I loved them, and when my sister was stricked with nervous prostration they slipped from room to room at my bidding doing everything in their power to relieve the sufferer. Not a sound, not even a whisper was uttered, pale faced and quietly, they became the workers that helped to save a life that was dear to all of us. I shall never forget their kind thoughtfulness and only wish I might have been able in some way to re-pay them for these splendid examples of good training and thoughtfulness in our time of great need. "She died, August 13th, after five days of intense suffering. Little did her family think as they sat with her at supper, Saturday night, that it was "the last supper." Not once did they realize that Death already had its icy hand on the latch-string waiting for five days to slip by so that he could snatch her away and leave them broken and sad ...
