"Death of Dr. C. W. Froedge On Sunday.

"Death claimed one of Glasgow's most ;prominent and beloved citizens Sunday 
night around 10:30 o'clock with the passing of Dr. C. W. Froedge, at his home 
on Columbia Avenue of a heart attack. He had been complaining of not feeling 
very well for several days, but continued practicing his profession. He had 
just returned from calling on a patient when stricken Sunday night, and his 
sudden passing came as a shock to his many friends and acquaintances throughout 
Barren and adjoining counties.

"Dr. Froedge was one of the most widely known physicians in this section, 
having engaged in the practice of medicine in Glasgow for the past forty-five 
years. During this period he endeared himself to fellow citizens and was loved 
and respected by the entire community. Born and reared near Subtle, in Metcalfe 
county, he came to Glasgow and attended the Old Southern Normal School, later 
graduating from that institution when it was moved to Bowling Green.

"After graduating from the Normal School he was engaged as teacher in the rural 
schools of Barren county for six years and then entered the University of 
Louisville where he received his degree in medicine. In addition to the 
practice of his profession he had been active in the civic, religious and 
political circles of this county the past forty-five years. He was a devout 
member of the Beech Grove Baptist Church and of the Modern Woodmen of American 
Lodge. In politics, he was an ardent Republican, but in spite of his deep 
interest in his party, he was one not to let this interfere with personal 
friendship.

"Dr. Froedge was appreciated by all who knew him for his genuiness, his 
straight froward and honest methods of dealing with all he came in contact 
with. He was the soul of honor; his word and judgment could be relied on.

"Hundreds of citizens in Barren and adjoining counties are indebted to him for 
the many kindnesses and favors he granted during his life time. He was one of 
the finest men, one of the truest friends God ever created. He was a positive 
character, yet he respected the views of others; he was outspoken, quick to 
take a stand, but never crossed or argued with the other fellow.

"He valued his friends in every walk of life and there was no one who ever went 
to him with their troubles but what he was willing to lend a helping hand, if 
in his power. Dr. Froedge's influence was for the good and few men ever lived 
in Barren county who were held in higher esteem. His willingness to help, his 
continued interest in the betterment of the community always gained for him a 
good name and recognition as a community leader.

"Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Sallie Froedge; one daughter, Mrs. Max Painter, 
this city; five sons, Messrs Arlin Froedge, Indianapolis, Ind.; Flava Froedge 
and Everett Froedge, Eighty Eight; Orbin Froedge, Detroit, Mich., and Huey 
Froedge, this city; two sisters, Mrs. Flora Mosby, Subtle, and Mrs. Sudie 
Garmon, Breeding. He is also survived by two foster sons, Messrs Arthur 
Crompton, Summer Shade, and Ray Martin, this city.

"Dr. Froedge was born Nov. 13, 1865, at Subtle, in Metcalfe county. October 30, 
1894, he was married to Miss Sallie Travis. Eight children were born to this 
union.

"Funeral services were conducted at the Beech Grove Baptist Church, near Eighty 
Eight Tuesday, at 1 .m. by Rev. J. H. Swann and F. W. Woodward. Burial was in 
the Refuge cemetery at Eighty-Eight. The pall-bearers were associated of Dr. 
Froedge in the medical profession and were as follows: Dr. C. C. Howard, Dr. 
Clifton Richards, Dr. E. L. Palmore, Dr. Paul S. York, Dr. C. G. Follis, Dr. 
Oren Beatty, Dr. A. T Botts and Dr. J. W. Acton."
