Mary R. Gorin January 7 1922 Barren County KyArchives Obituaries Unknown Louiville Courier Journal or Glasgow Weekly Times newspaper, family files. "Mrs. Mary R. Gorin. 81 years old, 211 West Hill Street; died at 2:30 o'clock yesterday afternoon from shock and injury. Mrs. Gorin was struck at 5 o'clock Tuesday afternoon as she was crossing Third and Hill Streets (Louisville). Despite her age she grasped the fender of the automobile, driven by J. D. Bratcher, and clung to it. Mr. Bratcher took Mrs Gorin to her home, following the mishap, and he offered to take her to a hospital, a member of the family said last night. An examination at her home led to the belief that she was not hurt seriously. A later examination, however, revealed a serious injury. This, with the shock, caused her death. Mrs. Gorin was the widow of James E. Gorin, for many years identified with the tobacco business in Louisville. She is survived by two sons, Henry B. Gorin and Lewis J. Gorin; three daugthters, Mrs. Emile Pragoff of Louisville and Miss Ellen Gorin of Louisville; and Mrs. John W Davis of Ntchez, Miss; six grandchildren and a great-grandc! hild. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 o'clock Monday morning at the residence. Burial will be in Cave Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Gorin was a native of Barren County, the daughter of Edmund Pendleton Rogers and Olivia Lewis Rogers. She was a nie of General Joseph H Lewis, commander of the Orphan Brigade.
