"Mr. Letcher Houchens died at his home near Bruce, last Sunday, at the age of 48 years, following an illness of fifteen years, from an attack of influenza, during whicht ime he has been practically retired from physical labor, but has been able to transact business. "He is survived by his wife and four daughters: Misses Jessie, Georgia, Pearl and Edna Houchens. Also he leaves his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hardine Houchens, three brothers and six sisters: Messrs. Ervin Houchens, the well known grocer of this place, W. A. Houchens and Buford Houchens, Mrs. H. B. Powell, Mrs. Carl Britt, Mrs. Sherman Cooksey, Mrs. Roy Jordan, Mrs. Warren Dockery, all of the Bruce section, Mrs. Brent Kinslow of Cedar Grove. "Mr. Houchens was a member of the Baptist church and was a highly honorable gentleman, who commanded the respect of all who knew him. "Funeral services were conducted at Bruce, Monday afternoon, by Rev. J. H. Swann of Tompkinsville, former pastor of the church at Bruce, after which the remains were brought to his place and interred in the Glasgow Cemetery."
