OBIT: Ella McDonnold, 1875, Barren Co. Submitted by Sandi Gorin NOTE: I have no connection, no further information and am not seeking additional information. "In Memoriam. On Thursday, the 28th of January, at about 6 o'clock, P.M., Mrs. Ella Bagby McDonnold, wife of Thos E. McDonnald, in the 25th year of her age. "My dear wife died at the feet of Jesus a meek and lovely christian. She was the light and life of our quiet home, a faithful and loving companion, and an affectionate mother. With all my faults, she loved me with a devotion that beggared description and now that she is gone, I feel that her purified spirit is ever hovering over me, the guardian angel of my life. She left two dear little babies. The oldest, a boy of two years old, the other a girl of just three weeks old. These now must be my care throughthe rest of my pilgrimage. If I can but direct to that Heaen, to which their darling mother has gone, I shall have done much - yea, shall have hid a multitude of sins. "Tho those who knew Ella, and who had been warmed by the purity of her life into a love for her, I would say, God speed! We have no time to lise if we would imitate her example - if we would pass through the "Golden Gate" to the "far beyond." The sweet "rest" which she sighed for while here on earth, can only be attained by a faithful few; by those who are contrite in heart, and humble in life. We cannot now see through these great afflictions of God, but it will all be well bye and bye. If we keep close up to the cross of Christ. "Blind, unbelief is sure to err, and scan His words in vain; God is His own interpretor, and He will make it plain." Unable to locate burial site.
