John McCandless December 1896 Barren County KyArchives Obituaries Glasgow (KY) Weekly Times, 30 Dec 1896. "Mr. John McCandless, an old resident of the Boyd's Creek country, died suddenly last Friday night. He retired in usual health. Some time during the night his wife was aroused by a peculiar noise being made by Mr. McCandless, and was horrified on securing a light to find him in a dying condition. Being at home alone, she rushed over to a near neighbor's for assistance, but before she returned the old man was dead. His death is supposed to have resulted from heart disease. Mr. McCandless was about seventy-five years of age, and was living with his aged wife at the home of their son, Mr. Billy McCandless, at the time the fatal summons came."
