Glasgow (KY) Weekly Times, 18 Dec 1895
"Mr. Gran Matthews, a popular and well know citizen of the Temple Hill country, 
died at his home Friday of last week of typhoid fever. Mr. Matthews was a man 
greatly liked by all who knew him, and was an excellent and good man. The news 
of his death was a shock to many of his friends, who were not aware of even his 
illness."
