Jesse Henry McCANDLESS - 11 July 1864 - 30 Nov 1940

"Mr. J. H. McCandless, 76 year-old retired druggist, died Saturday night about 7 
o'clock at his home in Smiths Grove following an illness of about one year.

"Mr. McCandless, a native of Barren county, had resided in Warren county for about 
25 years. He was engaged in the drug business at Oakland for 20 years before 
retiring four years ago. He had resided in Smiths Grove for about three years.

"Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Jennie Burks McCandless; two daughters, Mrs. Gerald 
Hackney of Detroit, Mich., and Mrs. Lawrence Hoover of Washington, D. C; one son, 
Mr. Ford McCandless of Detroit, Mich., and one sister, Miss Cora McCandless, of 
Glasgow.

"Funeral services were held Monday at 10:30 am at the McCandless home in Smiths 
Grove. Burial was in the McCandless lot in the cemetery at Hiseville."
