Joel PERKINS - 1859 - 1913

"Good Man Dies. Mr. Joe Perkins, one of the best citizens and men of the New 
Salem countr[y, died at his home Monday evening last, after an illness of 
several weeks with ulcerated stomach. He was fifty-four years old at his 
death, and is survived by a widow and four children, his wife being, before 
her marriage, Miss Kate Powell, daughter of Mr. Nelson T. Powell, of this 
place. The remains were interred in the Glasgow Cemetery about noon after a 
short funeral service by Rev. J. R. Marrs."
