'PROMINENT CITIZEN DEAD. Mr. S. G. Snoddy, in his 71st year, died suddenly of 
heart disease at his home here last Friday afternoon at two o'clock. Mrs.
Snoddy was with him at his death.

"Surviving are his wife and five children: Messrs Arnon, Hawkins and Owsley 
Snoddy, and Miss Hallie Snoddy and Mrs. Tom Hatchett, of Bearwallow. Two 
sisters also survive, Mrs. Annie B. Wells, of Glasgow, and Mrs. Fannie Ennis, 
of Three Springs, Hart County. One brother, M. E. Snoddy, of this place, also 
survives.

"Funeral services were held at the Methodist church last Sunday afternoon, 
after which interment was in the Odd Fellows cemetery here.

"Mr. Snoddy was born in Glasgow, at the old Snoddy homestead near the city 
limits, and spent practically all his life here, where in the years gone by he 
was prominent in business circles. He was engaged in the drug business, then 
newspaper publishing and banking, and rose high in the esteem and estimation of 
the community.

"Mr. Snoddy was a devout member of the Methodist church, having belonged to 
that denomination more than fifty years, and having been a Sunday School 
teacher of more than forty-five years in the local Methodist church.

"He was an honest man - honest to a high degree of integrity; he was a good 
man - in everything he did; he was a true man - truer man never lived. He was 
all that godliness and purity stood for and the whole community and world is 
the loser because of his death."
