Glasgow (KY) Weekly Times, 4 Dec 1895
"Mr. Shelby Shipley, son of Mr. Geo. Shipley, died at his home near Poplar 
Spring church, last Friday morning, of typhoid fever. Mr. Shipley was about 
twenty-three years of age at the time of his death, and was a most excellent 
and exemplary young man. He enjoyed the confidence of all who knew him, and was 
held in high esteem for his many sterling qualities and christian virtues.

"The remains were interred at the Poplar Spring cemetery Saturday."
