Name: James Ova Starnes
Residence: Louisville KY
Died: Thursday, 24 June 1980, University Hospital of gunshot wounds he 
received in a robbery at his home. His wife, the former Mamie Lohden, Glasgow, 
was also taken to the hospital and was treated for a beating she received 
during the robbery. He was 72.
According to police reports a man came to the Starnes home asking to use the 
phone and when Mrs Starnes opened the door to tell them they did not have a 
phone, he pushed his way inside, knocking her down. When she fell she struck 
her head on a stove, according to police. Mr Starnes reportedly gave the man 
his gun and his money and then was shot in the head. Police arrested Robert D 
Turner, Louisville, and charged him with the murder, burglary, robbery and 
assault in connection with the shooting.

Nephew: Charles Lohden Jr of Cave City KY
Niece: Mrs Jean Peterson of Route 1 Cave City KY
Sister-in-law: Mrs Oscar Young of Route 3 Glasgow
Services Thursday, 2 pm, Hatcher and Saddler Funeral Home, burial Memorial 
Gardens.
