Ben C. Smith. Dies after Several Month Illness. Benjamin C. "Ben" Smith, 76 year old retired farmer of 502 East Main Street, Glasgow, died at his home early Thursday morning after being confined to his home about two years. He was a native of Monroe County, the son of the late John and Mary Brown Smith, one of the county's oldest families, and was well known in this area for his ever popular and friendly disposition. Surviving are his devoted wife, Mrs. Mayme Smith; a daughter, Mrs. Willa Taylor, Glasgow, two sons, Ray John Smith, Glasgow; and Edwin Fay Smith, Franklin, Tenn.; three grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted Saturday afternoon at 1:30 at the Bethlehem Church with the Rev. Kenneth McCorkle officiating with burial in the church cemetery.
