SUBMITTED BY NANCY STULL 4-30-2004 showme49@mchsi.com ************************************************************************************************************************* Bath County, Kentucky, Deed Abstracts and Transcriptions Book B (1816-1819)(FHL Film # 272982) p. 75 This Indenture made and entered into this 24th day of July 1816 between Rane Chastain of Buckingham County and State of Virginia of the one part and Magdalene Carter (daughter of the said Rane) of Bath County and State of Kentucky of the other part Witnesseth that the said Rane Chastain both for and in consideration of one dollar to him in hand paid and for the love and affection which he hath for his said daughter Magdalene bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto his said daughter Magdalene Carter and her heirs a certain tract or parcel of land situate lying and being in the County of Bath containing 135 ½ acres, it being part of a tract of 600 acres patented to the said Rane Chastain on the waters of Slate Creek and bounded as followeth (to wit): Beginning at the North West corner of the said Rane’s 600 acre survey a sugar tree etc., thence South 126 poles to Cassidy’s branch, thence with the meanders thereof down the branch N 55 E 18 poles N 72 E 60 poles N 83 E 14 poles N 69 E 58 poles to two sycamores in the branch, thence S 40 E 10 poles to a stake, thence East 180 poles to Martin Chastain’s West line at two beech trees, thence with said Martin’s line North 15 poles to two hackberries and a sugar tree, thence N 21 degrees West 80 poles to a buckeye, locust and hickory NW corner to said Martin’s in the line of the original Survey, thence West with the line of the original survey 208 poles to the Beginning To have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land with the appurtenances thereunto belonging and the said Rane Chastain for himself and his heirs do covenant and agree with the said Magdalene Carter her heirs and assigns that the said tract or parcel of land he will forever warrant and defend against the claim of each and ever person or persons claiming in, by, through or under him the said Rane Chastain and from the claim of no other person or persons whatsoever.
