SUBMITTED BY NANCY STULL 4-30-2004 showme49@mchsi.com ************************************************************************************************************************* Bath County, Kentucky, Deed Abstracts and Transcriptions Book B (1816-1819)(FHL Film # 272982) p. 76 This Indenture made and entered into this 25th day of July 1816 between Rane Chastain of Buckingham County and State of Virginia of the one part and Martin Chastain (son of the said Rane) of the County of Bath and State of Kentucky of the other part Witnesseth that the said Rane Chastain hath for and in consideration of the love and affection which he hath for his said son and the payment of one dollar in hand paid by the said Martin Chastain the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged hath bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell a certain tract or parcel of land situate lying and being in the County of Bath on the waters of Slate Creek it being part of a tract of six hundred acres patented in the name of the said Rane containing 112 acres by survey and bounded as followeth (to wit): Beginning at the North East corner of the said 600 acre survey two beeches and sugar trees, thence South 140 poles to a hackberry in the east line of the original survey, thence West 101 poles to two beech trees, thence N 63 poles to two hackberries and a sugar tree, thence North 21 degrees West 80 poles to a buckeye, locust and hickory in the line of the original survey, thence east with the said original line 160 poles to the Beginning, 112 acres be the same more or less To have and to hold the said tract of land with the appurtenances thereunto belonging and the said Rane Chastain for himself and his heirs do covenant and agree with the said Martin Chastain his heirs and assigns that the said tract or parcel of land he will forever warrant and defend against the claim of each and every person or persons whatsoever claiming by through or under him the said Rane but from the claim of no other person or persons whatever.
