Maxey and Rane Maxey, all heirs and representatives of Thomas Maxey, dec’d, also children of Lydda Maxey, dec’d and daughter of the said Rane Chastain of the other part Witnesseth that the said Rane Chastain hath for an in consideration of the sum of one dollar and the love and affection which he hath for his grandchildren the heirs and representatives of the said Thos. Maxey, dec’d and also children of his daughter Lydda as above named hath bargained and sold and by these presents do grant, bargain and sell unto the said representatives a certain tract or parcel of land situate lying and being in the County of Bath containing 130 acres it being part of a 600 acre tract patented to the said Rane Chastain and bounded as followeth (to wit): Beginning at two buckeyes and belly trees South West corner to the 600 acre tract, thence east with the original line 240 poles to a stake S.W. corner to Elijah Chastain, thence North with said Elijah’s line 80 poles to a stake S.E. corner to Rhoda Raglin, thence West with said Raglin’s line to a hickory etc. bank of Slate S 38 in the original line, thence South 102 poles to the Beginning To have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land with the appurtenances thereunto belonging and the said Rane Chastain for himself and his heirs do covenant and agree with the said Asa, Rhoda, Ann, Calvert, Thomas and Rane representatives etc. and their heirs and that the said tract or parcel of land with the appurtenances he will forever warrant and defend against the claims of each and every person or persons claiming in through by or under him the said Rane Chastain but from the claiming no other person or persons whatsoever. In witness whereof he hath hereunto set his hand and seal the date above written. Rane Chastain by his attorney in fact Thos. Moseley. Bath County I, Allin M. Oakley, Deputy for William M. Sudduth, Clerk of the Court of the County aforesaid do certify that this deed of conveyance from Rane Chastain by Thomas Moseley, his attorney in fact, to Asa Maxey and others was this day acknowledged before me by the said Thomas Moseley as attorney aforesaid to be his act and deed for the purposes therein contained whereupon the same is truly recorded in my office as the law directs.
