SUBMITTED BY NANCY STULL 4-30-2004 showme49@mchsi.com ************************************************************************************************************************* Bath County, Kentucky, Deed Abstracts and Transcriptions Book B (1816-1819)(FHL Film # 272982) p. 78 This Indenture made and entered into this 24th day of July 1816 between Rane Chastain of Buckingham County and State of Virginia of the one part and Rhoda Raglin daughter of the said Rane of Bath County and State of Kentucky of the other part Witnesseth that the said Rane hath for and in consideration of one dollar to him in hand paid and the love and affection which he hath for his said daughter Rhoda Raglin bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said Rhoda and her heirs a certain tract or parcel of land containing 179 ½ acres it being part of a 600 acre tract patented to the said Rane Chastain situate lying and being in the county of Bath and on the waters of Slate Creek and bounded as followeth (to wit): Beginning on Cassity’s branch at the SW corner of Magdalene Carter’s tract in the line of the original survey, thence South with the line of the original survey 100 poles to bank of Slate hickory etc., thence East 240 poles to a stake in the line of Elijah Chastain’s, thence North with the line of Elijah Chastain’s to Martin Chastain’s line and with his line to Magdalene Carter’s corner in all 140 poles, thence with said Carter’s line to the Beginning To have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land with the appurtenances thereunto belonging and the said Rane Chastain for himself and his heirs doth covenant and agree with the said Rhoda Raglin her heirs and assigns that the said tract or parcel of land with the appurtenances he will forever warrant and defend against the claims of each and every person or persons claiming in through by or under him the said Rane and from no other person or persons whatsoever. In witness whereof he hath hereunto set his hand and seal the day above written. Rane Chastain by his attorney in fact Thos. Moseley Bath County I, Allin M. Oakley, Deputy for William M. Sudduth, Clerk of the Court of the County aforesaid do certify that this deed of conveyance from Rane Chastain by Thomas Moseley his attorney in fact to Rhoda Raglin was this day acknowledged before me by the said Thomas Moseley as attorney aforesaid to be his act and deed for the purposes therein contained whereupon the same is truly recorded in my office as the law directs.
