SUBMITTED BY NANCY STULL 4-30-2004 showme49@mchsi.com ************************************************************************************************************************* Bath County, Kentucky, Deed Abstracts and Transcriptions Book B (1816-1819)(FHL Film # 272982) p. 79 This Indenture made and entered into this 24th day of July 1816 between Rane Chastain of Buckingham County and State of Virginia of the one part and Elijah Chastain son of the said Rane of Bath County and State of Kentucky of the other part Witnesseth that the said Rane hath for and in consideration of one dollar and the love and affection which he hath for his said son Elijah bargained and sold and by these presents do bargain and sell unto the said Elijah Chastain a certain tract or parcel of land containing 126 acres it being part of a tract of land patented in the name of the said Rane for 600 acres situate lying and being in the county of Bath on the waters of Slate Creek and bounded as followeth (to wit): Beginning at the Southeast corner of the 600 acre survey at an ash and two sugar trees, thence North with the original patent line [blank] poles to a hackberry SE corner to Martin Chastain, thence West 131 poles with said Martin’s line to two beech trees, thence South [blank] poles to a stake in the original line, thence East with the patent line 131 poles to the Beginning To have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land with the appurtenances thereunto belonging and the said Rane Chastain for himself and his heirs do covenant and agree with the said Elijah Chastain his heirs or assigns that the said tract or parcel of land with the appurtenances thereunto belonging he will forever warrant and defend against the claims of each and every person or persons claiming in through by or under him the said Rane Chastain and from the claim of no other person or persons whatsoever. In witness whereof he hath hereunto set his hand and seal the day above written. Rane Chastain by his attorney in fact Thos. Moseley. Bath County I, Allin M. Oakley, Deputy for William M. Sudduth, Clerk of the Court of the County aforesaid do certify that this deed of conveyance from Rane Chastain by Thomas Moseley his attorney in fact to Elijah Chastain was this day acknowledged before me by the said Thomas Moseley as attorney aforesaid to be his act and deed for the purposes therein contained whereupon the same is truly recorded in my office as the law directs.
