SUBMITTED BY NANCY STULL 4-30-2004 showme49@mchsi.com ************************************************************************************************************************* Bath County, Kentucky, Deed Abstracts and Transcriptions Book A (1811-1816)(FHL Film # 272981) p. 537 This Indenture made this 29th day of April in the year of our Lord 1816 between John Fowler of the County of Fayette and Commonwealth of Kentucky on the one part and William House of the County of Bath and Commonwealth aforesaid on the other part, Witnesseth that the said John Fowler for and in consideration of the sum of one dollar to him in hand paid the benefit whereof is hereby acknowledged doth bargain and sell unto the said William House a certain tract or parcel of land containing two hundred acres lying and being in the County of Bath on the waters of White Oak, a branch of Slate Creek, which last mentioned stream empties into main Licking on the south side thereof and bounded as follows, to wit: Beginning at a hickory and beech William Hartman’s lower corner, thence North 85 degrees East forty eight poles to two beech trees on the west side of a steep hill, thence North one hundred and eight poles to an ash tree, thence South eighty five West 198 poles to two ash trees, a white oak and hickory on David Sorency’s line, thence with his line South 108 poles to two large ash trees and white oak corner to said Sorency in William Thompson’s line, then with said Thompson’s line, and Sweatman’s North 85 degrees East 240 poles to the beginning containing two hundred acres be the same more or less it being part of a survey of 15,000 acres made for and in the name of David Leach and the patent’s found in the name of Kitturah his wife or widow and relict of the said David Leach deceased and by the said Kitturah and her present husband James Taylor conveyed by deed to the said John Fowler to have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land to him the said William House and his heirs or assigns forever and the said John Fowler for himself his heirs executors or administrators the aforesaid tract of land and premises do warrant and defend against himself his heirs and all persons claiming under him or his heirs or assigns the said William House his heirs or assigns, but this conveyance being made in pursuance of a compromise entered into between the said Fowler and House, the said Fowler is not bound to warrant said land and premises against any other claim. In witness whereof the said John Fowler hath hereunto set his hand and seal the day and year aforesaid. John Fowler Signed by Thomas Fletcher, his attorney in fact. I, William M. Sudduth, Deputy for Thomas Fletcher, Clerk of the Court of the County aforesaid do certify that this deed of conveyance from John Fowler by Thomas Fletcher his Attorney in fact to William House was this day acknowledged before me by said Thomas Fletcher to be his act and deed for the purposes therein contained as attorney in fact aforesaid whereupon the same together with the certificate endorsed is duly recorded in my office as the law directs.
