Jackson and Ann his wife for and in consideration of the sume of One hundred and Thirty Dollars to them in hand paid the receipt whereof I hereby acknowledged have granted bargained and sold and do by these presents grant bargain sell &, confirm unto him the said Henry Lary his heirs and Assigns all that tract or parcel of land lying and being in the County of Bath on the water of little Flat Creek Containing nineteen acres & bounded as follows towit Begining at a stake near a sycamore on the west bank of the Creek Thence west 9 poles to a stake - Thence S 5 degrees W39.1 poles to a stone on a branch Thence up the same N44 degrees 30 E 100 poles to a beech corner to R Lock-Thence with his line S 12 degrees 30 E 46 poles to the Begining -Together with all and Singular The premises thereunto belonging or in any wise of pertaining to have and to hold the land hereby conveyed its appurtenances unto him the said Henry Lary his heirs and assigns forever & the said James C Jackson & Ann his wife for themselves their heirs Executors and administrators the title to the aforesaid Land an premises unto him the said Henry Lary his heirs and assigns forever. Deed Bath Co., KY Deed Book P Page 240-241 Jackson to Hawkins This indenture made and entered into this 2nd day of June in the year of our lord one thousand Eight hundred and forty Eight by and between James C Jackson of the County of Bath and state of Kentucky of the first part and Thomas Hawkins and Samuel Mitchell of the County of Bath & Alfred Mitchell of the county of Nicholas all of the state of the State of Kentucky of the Second part Witnesseth whereas the said James C. Jackson stands justly indebted to the aforesaid Thomas Hawkins in the sum of one hundred and forty Six dollars 66 cents due by note on the [left blank] of May 1848 and he the said James C Jackson also stands justly indebted to the said Samuel Mitchell in the further sum of Fifty dollars due by note on the 31st day of May 1898 and further said James C Jackson also stands justly indebted to the said Alfred Mitchell in the further Sum of Twenty dollars due Some time in March or April 1848 and the said Thomas Hawkins stands bund as the Security for said James C Jackson for Thirteen dollars and twenty five cents to the Executor or administrator of Barrick Prater deceased due by note the 25th day Decr 1848 now witnesseth for and in consideration of the above -?- premises and the further Consideration of the sum of one hundred dollars cash in hand paid the receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge he the said James C Jackson has this day granted bargained and sold and by them presents do grant Sell and convey by way of Mortgage unto them the said Thomas Hawkins Samuel Mitchell jr and Alfred Mitchell their heirs and assigns the following described real and personal estate to secure the aforesaid debts and liabilities towit one house and lot of ground containing an acre and a little over a quarter the same that that said Jackson now live in also near Hawkins Mill in the County of Bath on licking river one bay mare with a bull - -?-, Eight years old Two Cows -?- -?- Calf one a muly the other a Speckle cow Two beds and bedding bead steads &c one Bureau one clock & looking glass six chairs three Bead steads one Rifle gun 3 dishes half dozen knives and forks -?- Two sets of teacups saucers one dozen plates two ovens & lids one skillet and lid? one 10 gallon kettle and large Brass kettel two axes and one plow one lot of timber cinseslery? of choisz poplar and sycamore plankss Some Skantting? bed posts that is now Found in the shop of Said Jackson or on the premises and all other skuanting? bed posts & sailuy? on hand one fine shovel and one pair of andirons to have and to hold the aforesaid described property unto them the said Thomas Hawkins Samuel Mitchell Jr & Alfred Mitchell and their heirs and assigns for the Sole purpose of securing the aforesaid debts and security Ship aforesaid and the said James C Jackson will warrant and forever defend the title to the aforesaid described for the purposes aforesaid unto the Said Hawkins Samuel Mitchell Jr and Alfred Mitchell and their heirs and assigns and it is understood that should James C Jackson pay the aforesaid debts and -?- interests & costs then this Mortgage to be released and had for naught otherwise to remain in full force and virtue In testemony whereof the said James C Jackson has herunto set his hand and seal the day and date first above written Jas C Jackson Seal Interlined with the words Jackson before signed four times on the first page & one on the last page State of Kentucky Sct Bath County I William M Sudduth Clerk of the Court for the County aforesaid do certify that this deed of Mortgage from James C Jackson to Thomas Hawkins Saml.
