SUBMITTED BY NANCY STULL 4-30-2004 showme49@mchsi.com ************************************************************************************************************************* Bath County, Kentucky, Deed Abstracts and Transcriptions Book B (1816-1819)(FHL Film # 272982) p. 93 This Indenture made and entered into this 23rd day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventeen Between Asa Maxey and Catharine his wife of the County of Bath and State of Kentucky of the one part and Edmond Oakley of the County and State aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that the said Asa Maxey for and in consideration of the sum of seventy three dollars fifty one cents current money of Kentucky to him in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained and sold and by these presents doth grant bargain sell and confirm unto the said Edmond Oakley his heirs or assigns forever one undivided moiety or sixth part of a certain tract or parcel of land situate lying and being in the County of Bath on the waters of Slate Creek containing one hundred and thirty acres it being part of a survey of 600 acres patented to Rane Chastain and said 130 acres conveyed by said Rane Chastain to said Asa Maxey and others heirs and legal representatives of Thomas Maxey deceased whereby said Asa Maxey becomes entitled to the one sixth part of said 130 acres which said tract is bounded as follows to wit: Beginning at two buckeyes and Belly trees South West corner to the 600 acre tract, thence East with the original line 240 poles to a stake South West corner to Elijah Chastain, thence North with said Elijah’s line 80 poles to a Stake South East corner to Rodah Raglin, thence West with said Raglin’s line to a hickory etc. on the Bank of Slate Creek 238 poles in the original line, thence South 102 poles to the beginning Together with all and singular the said moiety or sixth part of said tract or parcel of land with its appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining To have and to hold the said undivided sixth part of said tract or parcel of land with its appurtenances unto him the said Edmond Oakley his heirs and assigns forever and the said Asa Maxey for himself his heirs executors and administrators the aforesaid moiety of land and premises unto him the said Edmond Oakley his heirs and assigns against the claim or claims of each and every person or persons whatsoever [couldn’t read] will warrant and forever defend by these presents in witness whereof the said Asa Maxey and Catharine his wife have hereunto set their hands and seals this day and date first above written. Asa Maxey, Catharine Maxey Bath County This deed of conveyance from Asa Maxey and Catherine his wife to Edmond Oakley was this day acknowledged before me by the said Maxey and wife to be their act and deed for the purpose therein contained. She the said Catherine being examined by me separately and apart from her said husband freely and voluntarily relinquished her right of dower to the within mentioned land Whereupon the same is truly recorded in my office as the law directs.
