SUBMITTED BY NANCY STULL 4-30-2004 showme49@mchsi.com ************************************************************************************************************************* Bath County, Kentucky, Deed Abstracts and Transcriptions Book B (1816-1819)(FHL Film # 272982) p. 99 This Indenture made this fifth day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventeen between Joel Parker and Rodah his wife of the County of Bath and Commonwealth of Kentucky of the one part and Edmond Oakley of the County and Commonwealth aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that the said Joel Parker and Rodah his wife for and in consideration of the sums of seventy three dollars fifty one cents current money to him in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain sell alien and confirm unto him the said Edmond Oakley his heirs and assigns forever one undivided moiety or sixth part of a certain tract of land situate lying and being in the County of Bath on the waters of Slate Creek containing one hundred and thirty acres, it being part of a survey of 600 acres patented to Rain Chastain and the said 130 acres was conveyed by said Rain Chastain to said Rodah Parker wife of the said Joel Parker and other heirs and legal representatives of Thomas Maxey deceased whereby said Joel Parker and Rodah his wife became entitled to one sixth part of said one hundred and thirty acres which said tract is bounded as follows (to wit): Beginning at two belly trees and buckeyes southwest corner to the 600 acre tract, thence east with the original line 240 poles to a stake southwest corner to Elijah Chastain’s, thence north with said Elijah’s line 80 poles to a stake southeast corner of Roda Raglin, thence west with said Raglin’s line to a hickory etc on the bank of Slate Creek 238 poles in the original line, thence south 102 poles to the beginning Together with all and singular the said undivided moiety or sixth part of said tract or parcel of land with its appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining To have and to hold the said undivided sixth part of said tract or parcel of land with its appurtenances unto him the said Edmond Oakley his heirs and assigns forever, and the said Joel Parker and Rodah his wife for themselves their heirs executors and administrators the aforesaid moiety of land and premises unto him the said Edmond Oakley his heirs and assigns against the claim or claims of all and every person or persons whatsoever do and will warrant and forever defend by these presents In testimony whereof the said Joel Parker and Rodah his wife have hereunto set their hands and seals the day and year first above written. Bath County This deed of conveyance from Joel Parker and Rodah his wife to Edmond Oakley was this day acknowledged before me by the said Parker and wife to be their act and deed for the purpose therein contained She the said Rodah being examined by me separately and apart from her said husband freely and voluntarily relinquished her right of dower to the within described land and premises Whereupon the same is truly recorded in my office as the law directs.
