private of Captain GEORGE PUGH's Company, Colonel Kentucky Militia Reg't.
Residence, Bath County, Kentucky. Post Office address: Owingsville, Bath
County, Kentucky. Enlisted August 5, 1812, discharged March 4, 1813.....length
of service 212 days.

Know Ye, That JOHN McLAIN a Private of Captain North's Company (E) 24th
Regiment of Kentucky Volunteers Infantry was mustered into the U.S. service
on the day of One thousand eight Hundred and Sixty to serve Three years
and is hereby discharged from service by reason of Surgeons Certificates
of disability. He volunteered at County of Bath State of Kentucky is 5
feet 10 inches high, Fair complexion, Blue eyes, grey hair, and by occupation
when enlisted a Wheelright. This Certificate of Discharge is given said
JOHN McLAIN the 1st day of January, 1863, at Louisville County of Jefferson
State of Kentucky he being actually discharged from service at this date
