Sterling until October 12 on account of the illness of witnesses. Coomer was fatally shot when he returned to his home at Stoops in an intoxicated condition and began to abuse his wife. According to witnesses Mrs. Coomer became frightened and ran across the road to the home of her father, Loutrell Warner, followed by her husband armed with a butcher knife. He continued to abuse her and it is said that the girl's father tried to quiet him unsuccessfully and that Coomer turned his wrath upon his father-in-law and advanced on him with the knife. Warner fired with a shotgun and Coomer died instantly. Warner was released on bond prior to his examining trial.
