Mr. Bennett's death was attributable to heart failure and came as a shock to his family and a host of friends. His condition had improved following the attack of pneumonia and he was thought to be on the road to recovery which the complication developed. A native of this county, he was a son of John and Nancy Foudre Bennett. He was a prosperous farmer and one of the county's most successful tobacco growers. Besides his widow, Mrs. Willie Smith Bennett, he is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Clarence Vanlandingham, and four sons, Johnson, Clyde, Sherman and Beckham Bennett. Funeral services were held at the residence Tuesday afternoon, January 11, conducted by the Rev. George C. Frey, pastor of the Owingsville Christian church. Interment was in the family lot in the Owingsville cemetery.
