  Leonard "Hooks" Copher, age 85, of Blevins Valley Road, Owingsville, passed 
away Monday, Dec. 31, 2001, at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.  He was born 
May 9, 1916 in Bath County to the late William "Bill" and Minerva Shrout 
Copher.  He was a farmer and livestock trader.
  Survivors include one son, Roger and wife, Becky Copher; one sister, Mac and 
husband, Carl McQuithy; one grandchild and two step-grandchildren; several 
nieces and nephews.
  He was preceded in death by brothers, Arthur, Cecil, Clay, Robert and 
Willard Copher, and sisters, Lucy Robinson and Nettie York.  Funeral services 
were held Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2002 at 1:30 p.m. at Richardson Funeral Home with 
Bishop Robert Bylund, Elder Owens Ockeman, Rev. Lowell Rice and Elton Jones 
officiating.  Burial followed in Owingsville Cemetery.
