Date: Sun, 26 Jan 2003 From: http://www.genrecords.net/emailregistry/vols/00001.html#0000008 ********************************** Joe Darrell Bath County News-Outlook Thursday, August 25, 1938 Local Colored Man Victim of Paralysis Joe Darrell, 67, well known colored citizen of Owingsville, died at his home here early this morning from the effects of a paralytic stroke suffered early Tuesday morning. Joe was found on Henry street, in the rear of the Kroger store early Tuesday morning in an unconscious condition. He was taken to his home but failed to regain consciousness, although he seemed to improve somewhat during the day Wednesday. He was a state pensioned and had been in poor health for some time. He was a good citizen, worked regularly at odd jobs around town and was well liked by both white and colored people. He is survived by his wife, Ann Darrell, two daughters and one son, Tommy Darrell. Funeral services will be held Saturday at the Colored M. E. church with burial in the local colored cemetery.
