Magowan Bath County News-Outlook Thursday, January 26, 1939 Death Claims Montgomery Horseman Funeral services were held at 1:30 o'clock Friday afternoon at the Eastin and Keal funeral home in Mt. Sterling for James R. Magowan, 64, one of the best known trotting horse breeders of his day, who died Thursday. Services were conducted by the Rev. Howard S. Stephenson. Burial in Machpelah cemetery. At one time considered one of the wealthiest men in Montgomery county, he died a county ward. He was unmarried and was the last member of his family.
