  George Harrison McCarty, age 92, resident of Windsor Care Center in Mt. 
Sterling, passed away on Wed., Jan. 9, 2002, at his residence.  He was born 
June 9, 1909 in Bath Co. to the late Bert and Minnie Goodpaster McCarty and is 
the husband of Clarine Bailey McCarty.  He was a retired farmer, a member of 
Grassy Lick Methodist Church and a member of the Masonic Lodge F&AM #55.
  Survivors include one sister, Clarene Willoughby of Lexington; and several 
nieces and nephews.
  He was preceded in death by a sister, Kathleen McCarty and two brothers, 
Russell and Norman "Rooster" McCarty.
  Funeral services were held Sat., Jan 12, 2002, at 10:30 a.m. at the Herald 
and Stewart Home for Funerals with the Rev. Joseph Boysel officiating.  Burial 
was in Longview Cemetery.
