Date: Mon, 26 Nov 2001 15:48:32 -0500 From: "Don and Pat Ward" ********************************** Obituary of Jonas Reynolds, husband of Martha D. Rayburn Reynolds. From the Bath County News Outlook, Thursday March 12, 1936. Jonas Reynolds, 85 years old, farmer of the Salt Wells section, died at his home at 8:30 o'clock Tuesday morning following a heart attack. Mr. Reynolds lived only a short time after he was stricken and had been in apparently good health up until a few minutes before his passing. Although well advanced in years, he had enjoyed a robust constitution and was seldom ill. On the morning of his death, he had been about his place as usual. A man of irreproachable character, Mr. Reynolds was one of the most highly respected men in this county. He had lived quietly, met his obligations promptly and held himself above the petty affairs of his community. He was a native of Bath county, a son of Thomas and Amy Warner Reynolds, born December 1, 1850. His forbears were among the early families of this section of the state. Besides his wife, Mrs. Martha Raburn Reynolds, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Walter Quisenberry and Mrs. Tom Jones, of Stepstone, and seven sons, Allie and Talmadge of Mt. Sterling, and Virgil, Clarence, Fred, Clay, and Walter Reynolds, all of this county. Funeral services were held at his residence two miles west of Owingsville Thursday afternoon, March 12, at two o'clock, conducted by the Rev. Henry S. Ficklin. Interment was in the family lot in the Owingsville cemetery.
