Week of November 12-November 19, 1998 Thomas Stephens, age 87, passes away at Mary Chiles Extended Care Thomas "Tom" Stephens, age 87, of 5673 Howards Mill Rd. Mt. Sterling, passed away Sunday, November 8, 1998 at Mary Chiles Extended Care, in Mt. Sterling after a long illness of Parkinson’s and cancer. He was born November 10, 1910 to the late Alfred and Lillie Mae Coyle Stephens. He was a retired farmer and a member of Peeled Oak Christian Church. Survivors include his wife, Mattie Stull Stephens of Howards Mill Rd; one son, Tommy Stephens of the Peeled Oak Community; one sister, Mabel Donahue of Louisville; two grandchildren, Rhonda Clark and Jeff Stephens both of Owingsville; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his first wife Marian Grayson Stephens; one brother, Ollie Stephens; four sisters, Mayme Campbell, Irene Wells, Mary Belle Stephens and Maude Carter. Funeral services was held Tuesday, November 10, 1998 at the Richardson Funeral home with Rev. Bob Ray officiating. Burial was in the Owingsville Cemetery. Richardson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
