Know all men by these presents that we James Pieratt and John Shultz are held 
and firmly bound with the Commonwealth of Kentucky in the just and full sum of 
fifty pounds which payment will and truly to be made to the said Commonwealth 
we bind ourselves our heirs (can't read) and (con't read) jointly and sevenally
(sp) formly by these presents sealed and dated this 26 day of March 1814

The condition of the above obligation is such that whereas there is a marriage 
shortly intended to be held and solemized between the above bound James 
Pieratt and Sally Shultz.  If there shall be no lawful cause to obstruct the 
said intended marriage then (can't read) above obligation to be void else to 
remain in full force and virtue.

The Clerk of Bath County is hereby requested to issue licence for my daughter 
Sally Shootz to intermarry with James Peratt given under my hand and seal this 
25 day of March 1814.
