I am searching for any Choat information in the Montgomery and Bath Co., KY area. Augustine Choat, Sr. died in Montgomery Co. in 1818, before Bath Co. was formed. Augustine Choate's Will, Bath Co., KY Will Book D, Page 80: In the name of God, Amen. I Augustine Choat do make and ordain this to be my last will and testament hereby expressly revoking all others. I desire to be buried in a decent manner after my death, and my funeral expenses and all just debts to be paid. I expressly emancipate and set free, after my death, my negroe boy, Billy, hereby expressly liberating him from any servitude to any person on earth after my death, except his mother Sarah, whom it is my will and desire he should take care and support and keep from want during her life, and that so much of his services annually as may be necessary for that purpose are hereby expressly set apart for that purpose, but it is expressly my will that nothing herein shall be so construed as to subject said Billey to be a slave to my heirs or any other else after my death, but if necessary my executor shall have power to hire said boy out an appropriate so much of his annual hire ot the said Sarah's support as maybe necessary, and the balance after paying all necessary expenses to go to the use of said Billey exclusively and to be paid annually to him by my said executor. It is further my will and desire that after paying my just debts & funeral expenses that my negro woman Sarah shall have all my estate, real personal & mixed, except the boy Billey, herein intending to be set free on the herein set forth. I will to each of my children Samual Choate's children, Mariah Glover, Nelly, Isaac Choat, Austin Choat, Margaret Epperson, John Choat, Richard Choat, one dollar each out of my estate. I hereby constitute and appoint James Sudduth my sole executor of this my last will and testament.
